Certification course + Mentorship

Functional Medicine Apprenticeship

There's a distance between understanding a mechanism and knowing what to do on a Tuesday afternoon with a patient whose labs don't match anything you've read. Study closes part of that distance. The rest closes by reasoning through real cases with someone who has already worked through a few thousand of them. That's what the apprenticeship is built to do: eight modules of clinical training, and nine months of direct access to Dr. Lundell, DC.

Next cohort begins December 2026

Why combine the course and the mentorship?

The certification course gives you the framework: blood chemistry, immunology, GI, endocrinology, detox, cardiometabolic, brain health. Eight modules, built on clinical reasoning rather than protocol memorization.

The mentorship is where you apply it. You bring your own patients, your own labs, your own practice questions; and work through them with someone who is still in clinic every week.

Taken separately, there's usually a gap between the two. You finish the course, and months later you're back in front of a complex patient without anyone to check your thinking against. Taken together, every module has a live case attached to it. You learn the mechanism on Friday and have somewhere to bring the patient it applies to.

What's Included

Functional Medicine Certification Course

  • Eight modules, 12–15 hours each
  • Blood chemistry, autoimmune assessment, GI, endocrinology I and II, detoxification, cardiometabolic and energy regulation, brain health, and clinical case application
  • Protocols organized by functional diagnosis, with peer-reviewed references throughout
  • Certification and entry to the practitioner referral network

Nine months of mentorship — three months longer than the standalone program

  • Bi-weekly group sessions: a lesson, a case study, or a recent patient, with open Q&A and hot-seat time
  • Monthly private sessions with Dr. Lundell, DC — clinical questions or practice management, nothing off limits
  • Plus 6 additional group sessions and 3 additional private sessions beyond what the standalone mentorship includes

Included with Enrollment

  • Functional Medicine Resource Kit ($495 value): intake forms, consents, CPT and ICD-10 forms, super-bills, patient handouts, and a searchable research library
  • Protocol Library ($495 value), earned on completion: 50+ condition-specific protocols
  • Sponsor benefits from the labs and suppliers Dr. Lundell uses in practice — over $1,500 in lab tests, product discounts, and credits

Apprenticeship Schedule

The apprenticeship is built to run alongside an active practice, but it is a real time commitment.
The Mentorship begins December 17, and the Course begins December 18.

Course sessions run 2–3 Fridays per month. Some are live and virtual, some are recorded so you can work through them on your own schedule. A few are full 8-hour days.

Mentorship group sessions run bi-weekly, with your private sessions scheduled monthly.
WHO THIS IS FOR

Built for licensed practitioners.

Licensed practitioners — DCs, MDs, DOs, NDs, NPs, PAs, L.Ac.s, nutritionists, dietitians, and health coaches.

Some people come in new to functional medicine and want to build the foundation correctly from the start. Others have practiced FM for years and want a more systematic approach, or a second set of eyes on the cases that aren't resolving.

The apprenticeship is the right fit if you want both the full body of material and someone to work through it with you as you go.

Meet Dr. Brandon Lundell, DC

I've been in clinical practice for over 20 years, and I still see patients every week.

A lot of functional medicine education is taught by people who left clinical practice to become educators. I understand why — it's a different kind of work. But it means what they're teaching is increasingly theoretical. When I walk through a case in this course, it's usually from a patient I saw recently.

I started teaching FM 15 years ago because I kept seeing the same pattern: smart, well-trained practitioners who understood the concepts but couldn't make them work in practice. Not because they hadn't studied enough — but because nobody had shown them how to think through a complex case from the ground up.

That's what the apprenticeship is built around. I call it slow medicine — systematic, patient, grounded in clinical reasoning rather than protocol-chasing. It's the opposite of the fast-food approach that's become common in both conventional and functional medicine.

If that's the kind of practitioner you want to become, this is where to start.

Hear From Past Participants

“As a practitioner coming from random knowledge in the FM realm, what I have learned here in this mentorship is how to do FM CORRECTLY, and this foundation although I am still VERY new at it is a core foundation that every FM provider should have. I would encourage anyone wanting to learn FM, learn it correctly, and to learn it in depth to learn from Dr. Lundell.”
Holly Green, LAC
“I’ve been taking Dr. Lundell’s mentorship program as well as the Nutritional Pathology Course. Out of all the classes that I’ve taken in the past, this training was the most detailed….I’ve learned the most out of all the courses that I have taken, and I’ve been in the Functional Medicine field for the past 10 years. I’m really grateful to Dr. Lundell for providing such a detailed course, and I’m looking forward learning more from him.”
Dr. Natalya Fazylova
“My practice has grown. I’m seeing more people and helping them get healthier while at the same time not wearing myself out – and I’m making a profit.”
Keith Currie
“The mentorship helped shape more of where my practice is today and I can’t wait to continue that growth and learn more in the FM realm.”
